The first week of April was proclaimed National Public Health Week by President Clinton in 1995. The theme this year is "Take the First Step! Preparedness and Public Health Threats: Addressing the Unique Needs of the Nation's Vulnerable Populations."

We will focus on ways people with unique needs can prepare:

• Start with the basics
• If you are at work when an emergency happens
• If you have children living at home
• If you have special medical needs
• Now that you're ready, prepare to help others
