District Confirms Norovirus as Cause of Ill
Banquet Guests at Monte Carlo
Illness was confined to banquet guests, with no evidence of spread within the property
LAS VEGAS – Dec. 16, 2005 – Three out of four specimens from Monte Carlo banquet patrons tested by the Southern Nevada Public Health Laboratory are positive for norovirus. The specimens were collected from guests who experienced gastrointestinal illness after attending banquets held at the Monte Carlo on Saturday, December 10.
The health district has no evidence of any norovirus spread or ongoing illness at the Monte Carlo. The reports of illness were confined to banquet guests, who were all local residents. All have since recovered.
